These three clay tennis courts in Sunnyside Gardens Park have provided the community with healthy fun since their inception as part of Sunnyside Gardens Park in 1926. They are among the oldest tennis courts in Queens. The season begins in early May and ends in late November. Courts open from 8:00am to sunset. Adults and children may join our tennis club in order to play on the courts or take lessons. The fees are necessary for both Park and non-Park members in order to pay for the costs of maintaining the courts and keeping them in good condition.
Tennis membership entitles members to reserve court time. We have members of all levels and ages from beginners to advanced players. Tennis members may invite guests to play with them, more details on guest access and registration can be found here.

Membership
Tennis Memberships are available to both Park and non-Park members across a variety of ages and levels.
Daily Schedule
Members with the premium membership are able to book court time via our online booking system.
Lessons
Coach Carlo Carlini runs the tennis programs for children and offers lessons and clinics for adults.
Membership allows for lower costs including child membership discounts, greater access to court time, clinics, social events, tournaments, and a tennis ladder. Only members may reserve court time, which guarantees members a court when completing a reservation. Without a membership, you may only take lessons or play as the guest of another SGP tennis member during off-peak hours.
Visit Tennis tab for membership levels. We have park and non-park memberships for both adults and children. The prime time memberships allow the player to play every day from 8AM to closing. The off-peak memberships allow play only weekdays from 10AM to 5PM.
The courts open at the beginning of May and close in late November. The hours are from 8am to sunset.
Our courts are clay courts and their top surface layer is HarTru clay.
When members join the club and pay their dues, they are enrolled in Skedda, our online reservation system. Each member is entitled to make a reservation of one hour in their own name. A private tennis lesson also counts as a reservation. Members may play for more than one hour providing another member makes the reservation. All reservations start on the hour and end on the hour according to the court clock.
Skedda shows the daily reservation schedule for members. Both members and non-members may check the daily reservation sheet on the park tennis website: Tennis Daily Schedule
What to Wear
Here are four examples of tennis sneakers that are appropriate for clay courts.
The surface is fairly even with no deep grooves.
The herringbone pattern is common with this type of sneaker.
Sneakers with smooth soles or small circles were common several years ago, and will also be acceptable.
What Not to Wear
Any sneaker with grooves, or with bumps that would mark the courts. Running sneakers will not be allowed.
