Quick Reference

Operating Hours

  • The Park is open 7 days a week from 10am to sunset on weekdays, and 9am to sunset, unless otherwise announced.
  • The Park may close temporarily for hazardous weather or when special events are scheduled.
  • The Park is closed Christmas day and opens at noon on New Year’s Day.

Membership Renewal & Schedule of charges

All Park memberships are renewed annually beginning April 1st. When renewal season approaches, you will receive an email with an invoice prompting you to renew and pay. You have until April 30th to renew your membership without any penalties. If you choose to renew after April 30th, a $50 fee is due on top of membership dues. After July 1st, any unpaid memberships will be terminated. If you have an open invoice, you will see a floating notification telling you what you owe when you log into the Member portal. If you choose to cancel your membership mid-year, there is no refund of Park dues for that year.

You can change or update your membership within our Member portal.

Our Park

Is a subsidized membership program for eligible neighbors within the membership zones. If you receive government assistance like WIC, SNAP, Medicaid, or Section 8, you may qualify for reduced dues. For more information click here.

Governance & Decision Making

  • The Park is governed by a Board of Directors. The executive board consists of elected officers (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer) who serve one-year terms, and an appointed Park Manager. The full board also includes a Home Owners Representative and three Representatives from each member zone, who serve three-year terms. See the current board here. Any Park member can run for elected board positions; board elections happen at the December general membership meeting.
  • General Membership meetings are held monthly between September and June and all members are encouraged to attend. Meetings are a great way to meet neighbors, voice concerns, and keep informed on park issues, plans, and opportunities.
  • Constitution: The Park is governed by a constitution. You can read it here.

Community

Sunnyside Gardens Park is a volunteer-run community association and park; volunteerism fosters our sense of community and is part of what makes our Park special. There are a few paid staff members, chiefly our Park Director, Caretaker, and seasonal Park associates, but our member-volunteers are the engine that makes the Park run!
